Position Summary:
The Volunteer Program Manager for Community Residences, Inc. (CR) is responsible for developing and maintaining a centralized, effective volunteer program and volunteer network in support of CR's programs, philanthropy and community outreach efforts. The position's priority is to support CR programs and the overall work of the Philanthropy and External Affairs department with an emphasis advancing CR's mission, enhancing CR's position with relevant constituents and broadening CR's awareness.

This position is responsible for the development, management and implementation of a well-coordinated, strategic volunteer program designed to cultivate and solicit support from individuals, civic groups and companies within communities served by CR, with a focus on strengthening existing, long-term and prospective volunteers, volunteer groups, partners and donors.

Works closely with the Vice President of Philanthropy & External Affairs, department staff members, program staff and with other internal and external audiences.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Management of CR's Volunteer Programs, including but not limited to:
Develop and implement the program's policies and procedures in conformance with regulations and agency practices.
Recruit, screen, match, on-board and manage volunteers, both individuals and groups.
Coordinate group volunteer projects with Property Department and other departments as appropriate.
Oversee development, implementation and engagement of volunteers in external fundraising event efforts (% of proceeds days, etc.)
Represent the agency at events in the community (e.g. chamber meetings). Promote a positive image of CR to external partners, community members and donors.
Devise and implement action plan for outreach to secure volunteers (individual and group) for various needs, such as property projects, direct contact, office volunteers, CR Ambassadors, Speaker's Bureau and event volunteers through organizational relationship building, community and individual outreach to achieve CR goals.
Coordinate volunteer open houses and appreciation events in collaboration with applicable staff.
Maintain volunteer records management to ensure integrity of volunteer data, both electronically and hard copy. Ensure accuracy, confidentiality and security of all required reports and documentation for volunteers, as directed by policies and procedures.
Development, composition and assembly of all training materials pertaining to volunteers.
Develop a full range of volunteer recruitment and project materials to include tailored proposals, presentations, letters, reports, etc.
Understand, show a passion for and deliver information on the CR mission and programs to applicable constituencies.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
At least five (5) years of volunteer management experience within a nonprofit organization strongly desired.
Experience developing and implementing project plans
Superior teamwork skills; ability to engage and collaborate with staff and volunteers
Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs
Positive track record of supervising staff or volunteers and managing projects
Bachelor's degree in health and human services, public relations, nonprofit studies, public administration or a related field is strongly desired.

Preferred Qualifications:
The Volunteer Program Manager must model integrity, work to inspire colleagues and contacts and strive to build a strong cadre of volunteers in support of CR's mission.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office. Experience in Donorperfect or similar database management software highly preferred in order to maintain meticulous records.
Friendly, easily approachable, professional demeanor and strong comfort level in engaging with and developing mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external audiences of varying professional levels.
Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal skills. Excellent listening skills for recognizing and understanding volunteer interests and matching with appropriate opportunities. Ability to prepare effective proposals and to make convincing presentations.
Exceptional relationship-building skills.
Develop budgets and monitor expenditures.
Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism to work successfully with a wide variety of constituents including donors, board members, volunteers and consultants.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment. Must be independent, have excellent judgement and creative problem-solving skills.
Confidentiality and personal integrity are essential.
Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary in support of CR's mission.
