Job Summary
Volunteer Fairfax works to build a better community through service. The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP-Northern Virginia) based at Volunteer Fairfax is a project funded by a national grant under the Corporation for National and Community Services (CNCS). The RSVP-Northern Virginia team works to recruit and place volunteers (age 55+) in impact focused service opportunities supporting local non-profit and government organizations. This program specifically creates marketing content used to recruit, retain, mobilize, and recognize volunteers in the Fairfax, Alexandria, and Arlington areas. The RSVP Communications Intern will be tasked with researching and creating effective and relevant marketing tools for the targeted population and creating corresponding communication and marketing tools to use to assist in volunteer recruitment and program recognition. This position will focus on furthering the name recognition and impact of the RSVP - NV program, primarily in Arlington County and Alexandria City. This position will work closely with the Marketing and Outreach Specialist and RSVP staff to implement a marketing plan that meet identified needs in Northern Virginia.

Specific Duties
- Become familiar with mission and procedures of the RSVP program and umbrella volunteer centers: Volunteer Fairfax, Volunteer Arlington, and Volunteer Alexandria
- Build awareness of RSVP-Northern Virginia through the creation of communication and marketing tools to use to assist with volunteer recruitment and recognition
- Assist in the development and posting of material on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram and iTunes. Support development and integration of online channels, such as the RSVP website, blog and social media
- Support development of promotional materials and informational resources for volunteers and community partners
- Refer interested volunteers to upcoming orientations and/or RSVP Volunteer Specialist
- Other duties as assigned by the Marketing & Outreach Specialist
- Proficient in WordPress
- Proficient in Social Media platforms
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledgeable in Constant Contact and Survey Monkey
- Must possess superior oral and written communication skills
- Must be organized and detail oriented
Minimum Level of Education
High School Diploma / Equivilent
Some College
Experience Required
Entry Level (0-5 years of experience)
