Job Description
The Grant Writer and Administrator supports Volunteer Fairfax (VF) grants by preparing applications, monitoring grants and ensuring contractual obligations are met, providing financial management and preparing reports. This position also supports the RSVP-Northern Virginia program through management of the grant awarded by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).

This is a part-time position (approximately 20 hrs/wk), reporting to both the Development Director and RSVP Program Manager of Volunteer Fairfax.

Areas of Responsibility:

Volunteer Fairfax Grants (45%)
 Identifies potential grant opportunities which align with the mission and needs of VF. Recommends application strategies and approaches. Discusses potential grants with staff to determine which fit best with VF programs.
 Leads grant application process including setting timelines, gathering data needed for application, writing content, soliciting input from staff. Ensures application meets all requirements and provides persuasive case for approval.
 Monitors implementation and maintenance of grant. Tracks progress toward programmatic outcomes and upcoming deadlines and deliverables. Meets with program staff periodically to ensure work is in compliance with requirements. Leads grant reporting by monitoring grantor reporting schedules and requirements and working with program staff to gather data. Compiles reports with supporting material and ensures submissions capture programmatic success.
 Monitors grant funding ensuring expenditures are within scope of the grant. Develops and monitors budget.

RSVP Grant (50%)

The Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) Northern Virginia is a collaborative effort between Volunteer Fairfax, Volunteer Alexandria and Volunteer Arlington. As Volunteer Fairfax is the sponsoring organization, the Grants Administrator will oversee the grant(s) which fund the program.

 Collaborates with the RSVP Program Manager on development brainstorming and research.
 Leads grant application management and writing including budget creation and compilation of statistical and background information; leads RSVP grant renewal process.
 Oversees and manages data collection requirements including annual workstation survey, volunteer assessments, and other workplan/client or grant related data; data analyses; and report writing relevant to data.
 Prepares financial and statistical data.
 Meets bi-weekly with RSVP Program Manager regarding programmatic and financial oversight of program and for broader discussion to ensure continued compliance with program requirements and maintain efficient and effective use of available resources.

Other Program Support (5%)
• Provides support to all program staff as needed. Some events and activities may involve physical effort such as lifting or moving project supplies or standing for long periods of time.
• Supervise in-house volunteers as needed.
• Performs other duties as needed.

Compensation

Salary, which is dependent on experience, ranges from $16 to $18 per hour. Qualifications
Qualifications:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to make a persuasive case in support of programs
• High attention to detail, ability to multitask and set priorities
• Excellent analytical and research skills
• Demonstrate both the ability to work creatively in a team environment and the ability to work independently on projects with minimum supervision
• Four or more years of professional experience in grants management
• Experience with basic financial management skills including developing and monitoring budgets and financial reporting
• Knowledge of the nonprofit sector, Northern VA, and federal government grants management is a plus
• Excellent computer skills particularly using Microsoft Office Excel
• Knowledge or previous use of QuickBooks a plus
• Background check required
• BA or BS degree preferred

As some VF activities require offsite attendance, must have a valid driver's license and access to an automobile for local travel.
