Nonprofit organizations are typically tasked with doing a lot of work with little or no resources. Communicating effectively with your audience and stakeholders will impact your organization's programs and strategic initiatives. This workshop will apply Project Management Skills to develop an effective communications plan and uncover the key elements of the plan. The workshop will also include: strategic measurement, alignment, and information architecture. We will discuss effective communications planning and develop a communication plan. After attending this session, you should walk away with a thorough understanding of communication planning and a draft communications plan.

Advanced Volunteer Management Boot Camp 201 

Who should attend:  Volunteer managers, coordinators and team leaders ready to increase their volunteer management skills.

Delve deeper to increase your volunteer management leadership skills.  The three-hour intensive class will increase your volunteer recruitment, screening, supervision, and retention activities. We will cover:

  • effective screening techniques

  • giving feedback

  • coaching and mentoring

  • tips for managing up and down

  • methods for keeping volunteers engaged in your program.

    This opportunity is great for volunteer managers with growing responsibilities and veteran volunteer managers who need to refresh their skills. It's is great - but not required -- for those who have attended the Volunteer Fairfax Basic Volunteer Management Boot Camp. 

    Spend a morning with your colleagues, enhancing the skills you need to sustain a quality volunteer program.  This session will be led by Susan Sanow, Special Projects Manager at Volunteer Fairfax.
