Project Description
Help us teach the public about our amazing 1870s-1940s farm machines! Tell the story of each machine, how they worked and how they helped famers in early 19th century America! Perfect for anyone interested in interpreting history directly to the public and getting their hands dirty with real, antique farm tools! You will also have the oportunity to take baskets of smaller farm tools and do roving interpretation, allowing kids and adults to safely do hands on activities with the implements, and interpreting their uses on the farm. Purpose: To instill in the public an appreciation for the work of a farmer in early 19th century America and how the use of machines improved their production and quality of life. Duties: Interpret a different farm machine each weekend, talk to the public about how they contributed to the farmer's work and what made them better tools for producing crops than what was used before. Take baskets of smaller farm tools and do roving interpretation, allowing kids and adults to safely do hands on activities with the implements and interpreting their use on the farm.
